Selection at a glance
- Fit a telemetry module to an existing mechanical cold-water meter. Pulse or photoelectric sampling feeds wireless or wired AMR.
- RS485 and DL/T645 (see the parameter table) connect to utility billing and leakage-analysis platforms.
- Short retrofit downtime suits large change-outs in older residential communities and industrial parks.
- SimtoLink can supply a register-adaptation list, magnetic-interference installation notes, and waterproof connector options.
Product overview and engineering role
The SimtoLink mechanical cold-water meter telemetry module lets water utilities and property managers digitize metering while keeping a verified mechanical meter body, and avoids the capital cost of replacing the whole meter.
SimtoLink provides reading routes, repeater placement, and alarm templates for abnormal flow, including low night flow. Readings can be cross-checked against district meter data to locate losses.
Reliability and field fit
Electrical safety and EMC coverage includes the applicable IEC 61000-4 Level 4 tests. Ports are protected against surge and reversed polarity. Reinforced grounding and a partitioned layout reduce ground-loop and common-mode interference. Outdoor or coastal sites can use a higher ingress rating and a corrosion-resistant coating.
Parameters can be imported in bulk, threshold policies can be set, and event video or waveform records can be stored where the ordered model supports them. Configuration and firmware update over the air. For site acceptance, SimtoLink recommends a power-on self-test, time sync over the communications link, and a sample spot check. For revenue or safety metering, we help prepare a submission to a third-party metrology institute and supply type-test documents.
Key hardware parameters
The table lists key ratings for a typical build of this model, for selection and for technical clauses in tender documents. For a wider range, redundant power, or an intrinsically safe variant, ask SimtoLink for the hardware specification and the installation and commissioning guide. Order codes in the same family can differ slightly; the nameplate and the documents shipped with the unit govern.

Typical applications
These are common ways this model is installed, for solution selection and joint commissioning:
Residential meter-to-home reading
A concentrator plus a wireless module cuts disputes and labor from in-home reads.
DMA district metering
Align community or block inlet volume with customer sub-meters to find hidden leaks.
Commercial complexes
Tenant consumption and HVAC makeup water are reported separately, so property charges can be split.
Installation, grounding, and maintenance
- Confirm the supply range and polarity before power-up. Check bus voltage and breaker rating with a multimeter when needed.
- Run communications on shielded twisted pair, ground the shield at one end only, and do not bundle it with high-power cables over long runs.
- For first commissioning, finish bidirectional read/write and threshold-trigger checks against the platform in the lab, then move the unit to site.
- Outdoors, give drainage and ventilation priority. Inspect sealing faces on a schedule. Lightning-protection earth resistance must meet local rules.
- For long-term service, spot-check samples and archive logs every 24 months.
Ordering, documentation, and support
SimtoLink supplies the hardware specification, dimension drawings, a wiring table, and sample projects. Volume orders can include sample review and inspection at the plant. Warranty and calibration terms follow the contract and the documents shipped with the goods.
