Product overview and engineering role
The SimtoLink ultrasonic level meter is built for process-sensing IoT. Ratings on this page are there for selection talks, technical clauses in a tender, and later spot checks in service. Measurement and the communications path use a 24-bit Σ-Δ ADC, so behavior stays predictable across wide temperature, wide supply, and electrical noise. Terminals unplug for service. Critical chips carry a watchdog and a redundant check. Signed firmware can be verified and rolled back, which keeps a batch shipment and remote maintenance practical.
The default port is a fiber SFP with standard industrial connectors, so the meter can join an existing SCADA, energy, or IoT platform. SimtoLink supplies a southbound point-table template and northbound MQTT/HTTP push examples to shorten commissioning. Volume orders can add enclosure silk-screen, harness length, protocol mapping, and a calibration certificate.
Reliability and field fit
On electrical safety and EMC, the meter has passed the CCC items that apply. Ports are protected against surge and reversed polarity. Reinforced grounding and a partitioned layout cut ground-loop and common-mode risk. Outdoor or coastal sites can take a higher ingress rating and a corrosion-resistant coating.
Parameters load in batches. Thresholds, and event video or waveform records, are available where the ordered model supports them. Configuration and firmware update over the air. On site, finish three checks: a power-on self-test, time sync on the link, and a sample reading. For metering or safety use, SimtoLink helps prepare a submission to a third-party metrology institute and supplies type-test documents.
Key hardware parameters
Figures below are a typical build of this model, for selection and for tender clauses. For a wider range, redundant power, or an intrinsically safe version, ask SimtoLink for the hardware specification and the installation and commissioning guide. Order codes in the family can differ slightly. The nameplate and the papers shipped with the unit govern.

Typical applications
Four common deployments, for solution design and for judging return on investment:
Open water and storage basins
Non-contact measurement on rivers, landscape lakes, and fire-water tanks. The probe stays clear of scale, and crews do not have to enter the water. A telemetry terminal uploads the reading.
Tanks and hazardous-liquid sumps
Level on atmospheric tanks, collection pits, and cofferdams. Explosion-proof and corrosion-resistant options support inventory and a second line of leak control.
Storm-sewer separation and weir level
Water level on combined-sewer interceptors, weir head, and freeboard in a storage basin. The reading is an interlock input for interception ratio and pump start-stop.
Pump rooms and wet wells
Mount the ultrasonic level meter at the top of the pump pit and tie it to dual-pump alternation and a high-level alarm, so a flooded pump is less likely.
Installation, grounding, and maintenance
- Before power is applied, confirm the supply range and polarity. If the drawing is unclear, measure bus voltage and breaker rating with a multimeter.
- Run communications on shielded twisted pair, grounded at one end, and keep it out of long shared routes with high-power cables.
- For the first go-live, finish a two-way read and write and a threshold trip against the platform in the lab, then move the meter outside.
- Outdoor mounts need a path for water to leave and air to move. Recheck the seal face. Lightning-earth resistance must meet the local rule.
- While the meter stays in service, spot-check a sample and archive logs every 6 months.
Ordering, documentation, and support
Ask SimtoLink for the hardware specification, outline drawings, a wiring table, and example projects. Volume orders can include a sample review and an inspector at the plant. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the documents packed with the unit.
