Definition
A data-plan subscription is the process by which users choose a data plan, including a new purchase, a renewal, and an upgrade. After the user selects a plan and payment succeeds, plan issuance applies the plan to the SIM and it takes effect. Each subscription creates an order and connects to WeChat Pay and Alipay. Successful payment triggers plan issuance, reactivation, and other linked actions.
Types of subscription
- New purchase: The first order of a data plan for a card that has no plan yet, or an order for a suspended card so it can reactivate.
- Renewal: Ordering the same or a different data plan before or after the current plan cycle ends, so service continues and the card avoids suspension.
- Upgrade: Replacing the current plan with a higher tier during its validity period. This may require paying the price difference, or it may take effect immediately under the plan rules.
Business Process
The user selects a card and a data plan → an order is created → payment is initiated → payment callback → plan issuance → the card’s plan is updated and reactivation is triggered if the card is suspended. When payment splitting is connected, a successful payment automatically shares the amount with the split recipients according to the profit-sharing ratio. The order must support sales attribution so agents and distributors can calculate profit sharing.
Ordering entry points and channels
Data-plan subscription entry points include user self-service (C-end users order plans for cards in their name), the agent self-service portal (agents order plans for cards they have purchased), and the enterprise console (B2B customers order in bulk). Each entry point can use its own plan range and pricing. At order time the platform checks card status and ownership permission, and it supports WeChat Pay and Alipay. A successful order creates an order record for billing and settlement and profit sharing.
Subscription and data plan cycle
After a data-plan subscription succeeds, the plan cycle starts from the order date or the activation date. A renewal can be placed before the current cycle ends, and the next cycle follows without a gap. An order placed after the cycle ends requires reactivation first. An upgrade involves a plan change, which may require a price-difference payment or take effect immediately. The order must record sales attribution so agents and distributors can share the profit. The platform should support subscription-record lookup, refunds before issuance, and e-invoice requests.
Subscription and Payment
A data-plan subscription must connect to WeChat Pay and Alipay. After the user pays successfully, a payment callback fires, and the platform runs plan issuance and reactivation. The flow is: select a card → select a plan → create an order → start payment → callback → issuance → reactivation. When payment splitting is connected, the payment automatically shares the amount with the channel according to the profit-sharing ratio. Subscription is the core transaction entry on the IoT Cloud Platform for C-end users and agents.
