Product overview
The SimtoLink online turbidity sensor is for process-sensing jobs where raw water, basins, and outfalls have to be watched on the same scale for months. The figures on this page are the ones a buyer can use to close a selection, paste into a tender clause, or check a returned unit against. Measurement and the communications path share an automotive-grade ASIC architecture, so the reading stays predictable across wide temperature, wide supply voltage, and electrical noise. Terminals unplug for service, key devices carry a watchdog and redundant checks, and firmware is signature-checked with rollback, which is what volume shipments and remote maintenance need.
The default interface is CAN-FD on a standard industrial connector, so the probe can join an existing SCADA, energy-management, or IoT platform. SimtoLink supplies southbound point-list templates and northbound MQTT/HTTP push examples to shorten commissioning. On volume orders the housing can be marked, the harness length set, the protocol mapped, and a calibration certificate issued.
Reliability in the field
The sensor has passed the relevant CCC test items. Ports include surge and reverse-polarity protection. Reinforced grounding and a partitioned layout reduce ground loops and common-mode interference. For outdoor or coastal sites, a higher ingress rating and an anti-corrosion coating are available.
Parameters can be imported in batches, with threshold policies and event video or waveform capture where the ordered model supports them. Configuration and firmware both update over OTA. SimtoLink asks each site to close acceptance in three steps: a power-on self-test, communications time sync, and a sampling spot check. Where the reading is used for metering or safety, we help submit the unit to a third-party metrology institute and provide type-test documents.
Key specifications
These are the key hardware figures for a typical build of this sensor, for selection and for a tender technical schedule. For a wider range, a redundant supply, or an intrinsically safe explosion-proof variant, ask SimtoLink for the Hardware Specification and the Installation and Commissioning Guide. Order codes in the same family can differ slightly; the nameplate and the documents shipped with the unit govern.

Where it is used
Four typical layouts, for scheme design and for judging payback:
Plant raw water and sedimentation
Turbidity at the intake, through mixed flocculation, and on the sedimentation-basin outlet, so dosing feedforward and filter backwash timing have a live signal.
Membrane and advanced treatment
Interlock ultrafiltration and reverse-osmosis feed and permeate turbidity so a torn membrane or a failed pretreatment stage shows up before it reaches equipment downstream.
Outfalls and diffuse sources
Online turbidity at storm and wastewater outfalls, construction settling ponds, and river sections, to catch illegal discharges and sediment shocks.
Food and beverage process
Use the online turbidity sensor to call the end of a clean and to verify CIP, so water use and downtime both drop.
Installation, grounding, and maintenance
- Before power-up, confirm the supply range and polarity. If there is any doubt, measure bus voltage and breaker capacity with a multimeter.
- Run communications on shielded twisted pair with the shield grounded at one end, and do not bundle long runs with high-power cables.
- On first connection, prove bidirectional read and write and a threshold trigger against the platform in the lab, then move the unit to site.
- Outdoors, drainage and venting come first. Inspect sealing faces on a regular round, and keep the lightning-protection earth resistance within the local code.
- On a running installation, take a sampling spot check and archive the logs every 12 months.
Ordering, documents, and support
SimtoLink issues a hardware specification, dimension drawings, a wiring table, and sample projects. Volume orders can include a sample review and in-factory inspection. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the papers shipped with the goods.
