Product overview and engineering role
The SimtoLink vortex flow transmitter is built for process-sensing IoT. The figures on this page are the ones to use when you clarify a selection, cite a tender clause, or spot-check a unit in service. Measurement and communications run on an FPGA programmable-logic architecture, so long-term behavior stays predictable across wide temperature, wide supply, and electromagnetic interference. The hardware is laid out for field service: pluggable terminals, a watchdog and redundant checks on the critical chips, and signed firmware with rollback, which suits volume delivery and remote maintenance.
This model ships with CAN-FD and a standard industrial connector, so it can join SCADA, energy-management, or IoT platforms already on site. SimtoLink provides a southbound point-table template and a northbound MQTT/HTTP push example, which shortens joint commissioning. Volume projects can add enclosure silkscreen, harness length, protocol mapping, and a calibration certificate.
Reliability and site fit
Electrical safety and EMC follow the relevant CE/FCC test items. Ports include surge and reverse-polarity protection. Reinforced grounding and a partitioned layout reduce ground loops and common-mode pickup. Outdoor or coastal sites can specify a higher protection grade and an anti-corrosion finish.
Software supports batch parameter import, threshold policies, and event video or waveform capture where the model includes them. Configuration and firmware can be updated over OTA. SimtoLink suggests a three-step site acceptance: power-on self-test, communications time sync, and a sample check. For metering or safety-related use, SimtoLink can help submit the unit to a third-party metrology institute and can supply type-test documents.
Key hardware parameters
These figures are the typical configuration of this model, for engineering selection and for technical clauses in a tender. A wider range, redundant power, or an intrinsically safe explosion-proof variant is handled as a separate order. Ask SimtoLink for the Hardware Specification and the Installation and Commissioning Guide. Order codes in the same family can differ in small ways. The factory nameplate and the documents shipped with the unit prevail.

Typical applications
Four field patterns, for laying out a scheme and judging the return:
Steam and district-heat metering
Volumetric flow and heat settlement at the boiler outlet, the steam header, and the heat-exchange station. Temperature and pressure compensation, plus valve control, support contract energy and carbon accounting.
Chemical and pharmaceutical dosing
Reactor feed and discharge, and CIP loop metering, so a batch stays traceable and the recipe stays consistent. Data goes to MES or the batch-record system.
Campus and sub-metered energy audits
Branch pipes in multi-tenant plants, data-center chiller plants, and compressor rooms, so energy can be attributed by building or workshop and set against KPIs.
Smart-water district metering
The vortex flow transmitter on DMA zones and pump-station discharge mains, read together with pressure and noise, to find leaks and unusual water use.
Installation, grounding, and maintenance
- Before power is applied, confirm the supply range and polarity. If the circuit is in doubt, measure bus voltage and breaker rating with a multimeter.
- Communications cable should be shielded twisted pair, grounded at one end only, and not lashed to high-power cable for a long parallel run.
- Bring the unit up in the lab first: bidirectional read and write with the platform, and a threshold-trigger check, then move it to site.
- Outdoors, make drainage and ventilation the first job, inspect seal faces on a regular walk-down, and keep lightning-protection earth resistance within the local code.
- For units that stay in service, take a sample check and archive logs once every 12 months.
Ordering, documents, and support
SimtoLink can issue the hardware specification, dimension drawings, a wiring schedule, and a sample project. Volume orders may include sample review and inspection at the factory. Warranty and calibration are defined in the contract and in the documents packed with the transmitter.
