Overview
International roaming management decides which network a device may use once it leaves home. It covers roaming policy, PLMN selection, roaming-partner management, and roaming-usage monitoring. SimtoLink International IoT Cloud Platform (ICMP) works across 200+ countries and regions with multiple roaming partners, for 500+ enterprise customers and more than 10 million connected devices.
Policy and a profile per group
Roaming policy turns roaming on or off, sets priority, and applies block and allow lists by country, region, or operator. A roaming profile can differ by group or by customer.
PLMN selection when the network changes
Prefer a visited PLMN (VPLMN) and a network order by region. While roaming, the device can switch networks on its own and fail over (failover).
See roaming usage before the invoice does
Count roaming usage by country, operator, or device. Cost analysis and alerts for unusual use feed both a lower bill and a tighter policy.
What roaming control has to include
Operators need one roaming policy across borders (roaming policy), access to more than one roaming partner, data handling that meets GDPR and data localization, and roaming usage and cost they can actually hold. ICMP provides a global roaming dashboard, usage reports, policy settings, an API, and roaming-partner connections, and the footprint can follow where the business goes.
How a roaming change is enforced
Roaming policy is enforced on a microservices architecture, with availability at an SLA of 99.9% and technical support 7×24. TLS encrypts policy updates, IAM and RBAC control who can change a profile, and the audit trail shows the change.
- One place for roaming, instead of a policy file per partner and per region
- Policy that can differ by country, group, or customer
- Roaming usage and cost that can be traced when a bill looks wrong
- A customer-success manager to set the roaming policy and revise it as routes change

Putting a roaming policy into the field
Move through requirements review → solution design → a proof of concept (POC) → scaled deployment → ongoing tuning. SimtoLink sets roaming policy and PLMN preference, opens a POC environment, connects roaming partners, and trains the team. Contact SimtoLink to write the policy around the borders your devices actually cross.
